Credits/Points Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What activities qualify for HLS credits?
A:
The following activities will result in HLS credits:

  • Health Risk Assessment Survey - receive 5 credits if all members of the family complete the survey

  • Preventive Care Screenings - receive 3 credits for completing a screening (this would include completing the phone consult with D'Arcy Clinic), limited to a maximum of 3 credits per year

  • Self-care Screenings - receive 3 credits for completing a screening, limited to a maximum of 6 wellness credits per year

  • Healthy Living Programs - receive 5 credits for completing a healthy living program, limited to a maximum of 10 wellness credits per year

  • Online Monthly Seminars - receive 1 credit for participating in a seminar, limited to a maximum of 6 wellness credits per year

  • Health Coaching - receive 5 credits for completing a coaching program, limited to a maximum of 10 wellness credits per year

  • Disease Management - receive 5 credits for enrolling in a Disease Management program

  • Employer Activity - receive 2 credits for participating in a community or onsite company event

  • Monthly Challenges - credit amounts vary based on the challenge

  • End of Year Survey - at the end of the year you will be invited to participate in a survey, completion of the survey will earn 1 credit

Q: What activities are able to be tracked on the website?
A:
The following activities may be tracked on our website:

  • Preventive Care Screenings - if you would like to receive credits based on a qualifying event not including the free consult from D'Arcy Clinic, you may record the event on our website.  Credit for a consult with D'Arcy Clinic will be automatically awarded.

  • Self-care Screenings - limited to twice a year, record the activity and results of the activity on our website.

  • Healthy Living Programs

  • Employer Activity - proof of participation may be requested.

  • Monthly Challenges - at the conclusion of the challenge use the website to record your points total, be sure to log the points under the appropriate challenge for that particular month.

Q: How do I receive credit for other HLS qualified activities?
A:
The activities listed below will be tracked and awarded automatically.  You do not need to enter these activities into the website to receive credit.

  • Health Risk Assessment Survey

  • Preventive Care Screenings - phone consult with D'Arcy Clinic will be tracked automatically, all other Preventive Care Screenings must be entered on the website.

  • Online Monthly Seminars - attendance will be taken during the seminar, credits will be awarded automatically.

  • Health Coaching - this activity will require enrollment, credits will be awarded automatically upon completeion.

  • Disease Management - this activity will require enrollment, credits will be awarded automaticall.

  • End of Year Survey

Q: How do I review my current credit status?
A:
HMA Direct is developing a web portal to allow you to view your HLS credit status.  The portal is scheduled to be released in 2010.  Before the release of the portal, to receive your current credit status please contact HLS member services.

Q: What is the difference between credits and points?
A:
Points are used to track progress with the monthly Challenges.  Each challenge requires a designated number of points to receive the wellness credits.  We recommend that you obtain at least 20 wellness credits to participate in then Healthy Lifestyles program.  Some employers may offer a benefits related incentive if you obtain more than 68 wellness credits.  Check with your HR manager for more details.
